Visited Jack [Parker] at Hammersmith, very well, "tall, slim & stoops too much". Coming to stay with Robinsons. Describes his & Siere's rooms etc. Robinson settling gradually. Still no Cook. Jack [Parker], Louise [Harris] & Batt dine tomorrow. Latter bought Mr. Hoare's house on Adelphi Terrace. Dined twice at Sloane St., Mrs. Harris' house neat & cheerful. Crowle well, but Vicky lost [dog] near Barnet. Going shopping with Mrs. Robinson. Too wet to ride. Whitehall; plain, neat Chimney piece put in Yellow Parlour, Mahogony Book Case Bed brought down. Will consult Addisell about bedding. Had him put up two pictures, `View of the Tower' by Scott, formerly at Lord Radnor's as companion to `the Park' by Canaletti'. The other an original Portrait of Handel, hung over Chimney in Fritz's room. Mrs. T. Harris gives these pictures to Sir James. Doesn't like Grantham's `nervous night'. Mr. Hatton to marry Miss Murray. Lord Mansfield gives her £10,000, her father a similar amount etc... Mr. Edward Bouverie who married one of the Lady Murrays, is to marry a daughter of Sir Chaloner Ogle's. Lady Robinson in Town, hasn't seen her yet. Two pheasants & brace of Woodcocks just arrived from Saltram. Bought Tea Service from Wedgewood's, decided upon the Table service. Derby China in town on 12th. Clay's Tea Boards and Urn at Wakelin's finished. Mrs. Robinson hasn't forgotten Lady Grantham's Commission at Mr. King's but thought decision about patterns should be left until after six weeks mourning.
