- Scope and ContentReciting that that at a court held on 26, 27 October 1854 it was presented that William Hide of Leighton Buzzard, mealman, held ... plot of land in Windmill Close, Leighton Buzzard East to West: 152 ft North to South (at East end): 17 ft (at West end): 23 ft North: next described piece of land East: Windmill Road South: slip of land West: William Chew (being part of allotment in Windmill Close (1 acre 24 perches) which was allotted by inclosure Commissioners to William Chew, and which, with 2 other allotments in Windmill Close, were allotted in lieu of common land formerly Cox's) ... 7 undivided 1/8th parts of ... 3 cottages in Windmill Close in occupations of Jonas Miller, Samuel Buckmaster and Thomas Timms, built many years since by William Chew ... other plot of land in Windmill Close (on part of which said cottages stood) East to West: 152 ft North: Charles Pettit senior East: Windmill Road South: previous piece of land West: William Chew said piece of land was part of allotment in Windmill Close (1 acre 20 perches) which was allotted to William Chew in lieu of lands formerly Deverells (2 acres) ... slip of land, North to South 12 ft extending from Windmill Road to public footway being also part of allotment of land containing 1 rood 24 perches, awarded in lieu of copyhold land formerly Cox's and Deverell's to which said William Hide had been admitted at Court held on 15, 16 June 1848, and had died since last court now is presented that said William Hide made his will dated 22 September 1854 by which he devised his copyhold property to use of wife Henrietta Hide for life and then to children Mary Jane Hide, John Thomas Hide and Isabella Henrietta Hide as tenants in common. Will proved (Prerogative Court of Canterbury) 28 November 1854. Henrietta Hide has since married Thomas Marriott of Leighton Buzzard, agricultural seedsman, and Isabella Hide died on 23 December 1854 intestate. Now Henrietta Marriott, Mary Jane Hide and John Thomas Hide by their attorney Thomas Marriott, are admitted tenants to said lands and cottages of which 7 x 1/8th parts are granted to said Henrietta Marriott for life and the 2 x 1/3rd parts to Mary Jane Hide and John Thomas Hide as tenants in common
