The Crown Inn at East End. A sign pointing to an entrance says "BAR PARLOUR". Above this entrance is a sign which reads "THE CROWN INN BENNETTS FINE ALES, STOUT & PORTER". A sign near the roof says "FOREIGN WINES AND SPIRITS". To the left of the pub is a Cycle Repair Shop with a sign advertising "WILLS's HONEYCUT TOBACCO". No indication of publisher.

The addressee is Mr. F. Povey, Southwark Pk. Rd. Bermondsey S.E. and the message reads "14, Houghton Rd Dear F We shall be able to put you up on the 14th. I shall expect to see you then J Povey". (James Povey was the licensee of The Crown).
