This collection was put together by Mr Sandy Chrystal and his wife Jill over many years. The collection formed the basis of a number of books by Mr Chrystal.
Scope and Content
The collection contains approximately 7000 postcards. There is also an album of carte-de-visite and cabinet cards usually these photographs are the products of Bedfordshire photographers and the sitters identities are unknown.
Archival history
The collection was purchased by Bedfordshire & Luton Archives Service from the estate of Mrs Chrystal in October 2007.
System of arrangement
The postcards in this collection use the same classification scheme as our Z50 and Z1130 collections. Therefore, for example, Z1306/1, Z50/1 and Z1130/1 are all pictures of Ampthill.
