    i) Robert Bamforth the elder of Bedford (one of the Aldermen of the Town) and Dorothy his wife, and Robert Bamforth the younger (son and heir of Robert Bamforth the elder) ii) Anthony Harrington of Bedford, cooper, and William Fenn of Bedford, haberdasher Recites: lndenture of 25 April 1649 1] Robert Bamforth and Dorothy 2] William Toomes and William Doughtie, gentlemen By which Robert Bamforth stood seized of 2 messuages in Bedford to the uses of Dorothy for life Revokes all former uses, except that limiting property to Dorothy for life. NOW for the great love Robert Bamforth bears for one of his younger sons, Paul Bamforth, and Martha his wife (daughter of Anthony Harrington), and for the provision of a jointure for Martha, and in consideration of £60 paid by Anthony Harrington, it is agreed by all parties that i) will levy a fine to ii) before Michaelmas next in the Court of Common Pleas at Bedford, before the Mayor and Bailiffs of the town, of - messuage in the parish of St. Paul, Bedford, in the occupation of .. Harwood - one messuage inhabited by Samuel Wightnall - one butchers shop in the occupation of .. Patenam, widow, in Butcherow :N. Samuel Wighnall's dwelling house :E. High Street - one butchers shop in the same Butcherowe in the occupation of Randall Taylor :E. former mentioned shop - piece of ground being an orchard or garden in the occupation of Katherine Davy :S. Castle lane by the name of 2 messuages, 2 shops, 1 orchard and 1 garden in Bedford to hold to Robert Bamforth the elder until Michaelmas next, and thereafter to the several uses as follows: A. The shop in the occupation of widow Pateman, to the intent that Paul Bamforth and Martha and their heirs, or in default of such the heirs of Paul Bamforth, should hold from Michaelmas next during the life of Robert Bamforth the elder at a rent of 10s. to be paid at every feast of Nativity, Annunciation, nativity of St. John Baptist, and Michaelmas. Thereafter to hold for the life of Dorothy Bamforth at a rent of one fourth part of the yearly value of the shop, to be paid at the feasts above. Payment to be made at the dwelling house of Robert Bamforth the elder, in Bedford. Repossession in default of payment - shop to be for use of Robert Bamforth the elder for life provided Paul Bamforth or his assigns pay the rent at the times stated or at the end of 21 days after the determination of the estate of Robert Bamforth the elder. Then to use of Dorothy for life provided the rent is paid, then to Paul Bamforth for life, then to Martha Bamforth his wife for life, and then to their heirs B. The messuage inhabited by Samuel Wightnall, and the shop in the occupation of Randall Taylor, for the use of Paul and Martha Bamforth and their heirs. The estates limited to Martha Bamforth to be for her jointure and in lieu of dower. After the determination of estates and uses above, to hold to the heirs of Paul Bamforth, or in default of such to the uses of William Bamforth (one of the younger sons of Robert Bamforth the elder and Dorothy) and his heirs, or in default of such to Mary Bamforth (daughter of Robert and Dorothy) and her heirs, and in default of such to Amy Bamforth (daughter of Robert and Dorothy) C. The messuage in the occupation of ..
