F.E. Ward has been farming in New Zealand since 1923. On leaving School, he had a job with J.R. Eve & Son and a period in South Africa with the Cape Mounted Police. Was woulded in 1902 during the Boer War. Returned to England and farmed in Englad and Ireland before going to New Zealand. H.H. Ward went to South Africa in 1900 with the HAC Battery. Was killed in ambush in Cape Colony in 1902, while serving with the 24th Imperial Yeomanry.
