Too busy to attend on 31 July [prize giving?] ; occupied with visit from daughter and her son from Denver, Colorado. '...the British Academy elected me as fellow ...Possibly I am the first Old Bedford Modernian to gain this honour. I won't worry you again about the [swimming] bath. You know that I will send you £50 if & when the propsal is settled...' Also refers to success of rowing crew at Henley [Regatta], and slaes of wtirer's book.
