    i) John Wadman of Wingfield, Wiltshire, gentleman, eldest son and heir of Edward Wadman, late of Wingfield, Wiltshire, gentleman, deceased ii) James Melliar of Galhampton, Somerset, esquire Recites: Mortgage (demise 1000 years) 25 July 1764 (i) i) (ii) ii) Consideration: £500 • Messuage in which i) then dwelt, with garden, stable and appurtenances containing 1 acre • Close of pasture adjoining, formerly called Home Close, containing 3 acres, which had then been planted for 1 year as an orchard and was called The Orchard • ½ acre garden, formerly purchased of Christopher Harding, and thrown into above orchard. • Close of meadow, formerly called Bowyers, now Middle Leaze, containing 4 acres • Close of meadow, formerly called Pitmans, containing 1 acre • Close of meadow, formerly called Lane End, containing 1½ acres • ½ acre meadow : East highway from Wingfield to Bradford All which 3 closes have been thrown into 1 close called Pond Close, containing 3 acres, and all which except that purchased of Christopher Harding, were purchased by Edward Wadman the Elder from Walter Green • 3 little messuages called Saunder’s Tenements, being, some years since, built on site of messuage called Saunder’s Tenement, with garden and appurtenances • Close of meadow adjoining messuage, formerly 2 closes, called Hobbs Mead, containing 4 acres • 1 acre meadow in North Field belonging to the personage of Farleigh and : North North Hill belonging to Mr Butcher • 1 acre meadow called Dell Leaze : East formerly Henry Ball : West --- Goodwin : North highway from Westwood to Trowbridge : South another ground called Dell Leaze, belonging to parsonage • ½ acre coppice in Stones Grove All which were purchased by Edward Wadman the Elder from Barbara Saunders Now: Further borrowing of £150 on above security Signed: i) Witnesses: James Bacon Samuel Smith Endorsement: Memorandum by ii) that if i) pays interest for £650 at 4½ % per annum then ii) will accept such interest in lieu of interest mentioned as payable in above deed
