Copy letter from H.W. Liddle to Mr Sowter. Refers to the letter from R.L. Elgie to F.R. Ragg & Co [BMS/HWL/1/56], and regrets that the offer was rejected in such an abrupt manner, with 'not a word of thanks to Mr. Ragg for the very considerable trouble he has taken during the last seven months.......it seems to me unworthy of the dignity of the Harpur Trust.'

He continues '....I have no right to feel grieved that my work for the last twelve months has been scrapped, though I do rather feel that I might have reveived some explanation apart from the copy of a letter to an outside person.' [Second page of letter missing]
