Tennis begins tomorrow. Going for coaching for division 1 of the Boat Club, which takes up one afternoon a week. Dymphna and writer had preliminary coaching and had to sit on footstools and pretend they were rowing. Went to a meeting of the Shakespeare Society on Tuesday evening. On Friday there is a meeting of the freshers (of old) debating society, and tomorrow a meeting of the College debating societies. Yesterday was the Fire Brigade party, an annual affair; the captain and 2 lieutenants entertained the whole brigade to cocoa, biscuits etc., and afterwards had games and competitions between the companies. There was also a rag hockey match in the afternoon when everyone played in fancy dress. Kept busy returning cocoas to people who asked them last term. Writer enjoys having the people she likes, but some of the others are rather boring. Describes plants and flowers in room.
