- Scope and ContentLetter from James William Kaye: Reports on letters that have arrived from England, and general comments regarding mail service. Handkerchiefs sent have not yet arrived. General responses to news contained in letters from parents and comments on the progress of the war. Has been to Agra and got the car repiared. While there, had lunchwith Dorothy and Gordon Parsons and their daughter. Their bungalow is a fine property with views of the fort and the Taj Mahal. Dined with George Jivajirao Scindia; a large party with almost all the European community and a good many Indians. Likely to be moving in March, but not definate yet. Refers to Lloyds Bank and payments that should be made in Decenber and June, and to life insurance premuims. Letter from Joyce Kaye: General family news. Describes the dinner party held at the Scindia Palace in honour of the Director General of Ports & Telegraphs. The palace is very ornate with gilding and large chandeliers. Also describes going out on a shooting party at dawn and watching people extracting sugar from the cane and then baking it.
