    Refers to letters just recieved; most welcome as it had been almost 4 weeks since a letter arrived. Responds to news in letters received. Pleased Marguerite has got a job in Norfolk, but sorry that Mrs Keene [mother in law] will be left alone at Hazelbank. Discussion as to the whereabouts of a brown trunk, which the writer is certain is in the attic. 'Life goes on as usual here and one does not wish to talk about it. I wish to blazes that I could be sent to the Millde East'. Refers to Romanian earthquake; if the oil fields are affected, it may be a hindrance to the Germans. Joyce is playing good tennis. Gwalior Olympic Games were held last week. Writer won a medal for rifle shooting, having done no rifle shooting for years. 'The eye is still good and the hand steady.. I shall keep them so until I can let off a few shells at Boche or Italian.' Joyce was asked to go to Tigliana [?] Lake, where the seaplanes land, to meet Lady Read/Reid, wife of the Governor of Assam, who has just arrived from England. Were asked by the Palace to have lunch with her, and did so. Has heard of the fight made by the Jervis Bay in defence of her convoy. and of the Fleet Air Arm's success at Taranto.
