- Scope and ContentFirst letter: Still awaiting orders, and getting fed up with being reinforcements. Visited the chateau in Agincourt where all the visitors to the Western Front stay; the King, Lloyd George and Douglas Haig have stayed there. Not permitted to go inside. 'We have just been indulging in hot shower baths - the first of any kind since leaving England...the worst is we daren't send any clothes to the wash for fear we get orders to go any day, and one has only very short notice.' Second letter: Orders have come for some of the party, but not the writer, who expects to be among the next lot to go. Describes a visit to St.Pol; travelled by train, changing at Anvin. Did not have orders for travelling, so it was a bit of an escapade.. Managed to get a lift back in a red cross vehicle.
