Is sorry about the death of Talbot's brother whose life appears to have been thrown away. He was a good soldier. General Crawford's conduct not good. French comments on our troops. Hopes of defending Portugal in coming campaign. Expects attack will be made on Castel Branco. Crops are good, harvest will be late. Sorry to hear of Bouverie's danger. Lord Rosslyn on his way to town. Mentions Chamilly's publication. Comments on picture by Northcote. If seen hanging, it will be liked better. Has not had time to read bullion report. Sorry George [Grey?] will not take his flag.
