Subjects with examples: Longevity, (many people mentioned); Springs; Multiple births, large families, monstrosities; superstition (Campton elm tree, see 512/12 also) Deaths by lightning, drowning; Manufactories: Paper Mill at Langford destroyed; Bone Lace; Straw Hats and other Straw Work; Matting of various kinds. rush Baskets etc. Basket work of various kinds; the yellow ozier is most in use with the basket makers; Paper made at Langford, brown sorts. and ? if not blue; Manufactory of Whiting at Dunstable; Wool Combers & winders of Yarn Bedford; Basket Makers, Bedford (from Osiers) Straw Manufactories: Dunstable, Luton, Silsoe, Henlow, Langford; The Straw Manufactory being lately introduced at Henlow and in the Neighbourhood. The same at Shitlington; Rush Matting made at (chiefly) Pavenham, Stevington, Carlton, ? if at Sharnbrooke. Matting returned at Pavenham sent to London more than 1000 per annum. Hipwells thought not to make half. Pertenhall "There is only one spring in the parish and that is called Chadwell, or St. Chads Well, and gives name to the field in which it is situated" Baskets to Biggleswade, Silsoe, Woburn, Potton, Kettering, Hertfordshire and other places.
