    Most, if not all of these documents are probably those of the private practice of Theed Pearse, Sen. Theed Pearse Jun, and Theed William Pearse, who were successively Clerks of the Peace for Bedfordshire (1798-1889), Town Clerks of Bedford, and solicitors in Bedford. (Other documents of their practice are catalogued as PE and SW, AD 1-8, 260-77, 538-64. They were found at various times with the archives of the Corporation and were deposited with the County Record Office by the Corporation
