Reads: It is but seldom that I can attend any public meetings. It would have given me peculiar pleasure to visit Hitchin and attend your proposed meeting but at present duty forbids. For a long time I have desired to visit the house where good Thomas Shillitoe lived and worked, but on some future occasion I can gratify this desire and also lend a little service to your good work.
