Scope and Content
About 100 papers, many fragments of letters, some apparently kept as specimens of handwriting and signatures of prominent people eg William Wilberforce, Lord Manchester, two letters from Leigh Hunt (to Benjamin Wiffen, 1845, giving his opinions on Dante). Also a few letters to A Ramsome, 1846 - arranging lectures for a society, apparently at Hitchin (eg on evidence of unity of design displayed in the animal kingdom, by R D Grainger (?) travels in the Middle East in search of the 10 lost tribes of Israel by the Rev Dr Wolff.)
Many of the letters are addressed to Benjamin B Wiffen & are about books and manuscripts e.g. G Cruikshank, the book illustrator agrees to illustrate a work on the Jesuits by Wiffen's friends, 1858.
