  • Scope and Content
Philip Hunt: The Surgeon reported that William Symons, a prisoner under a charge of housebreaking, has been attacked with smallpox, in consequence of which he has been placed in the infirmary, and a male nurse (William Ingram who has formerly had the smallpox) appointed to attend him. Unfortunately, among the prisoners now in the gaol and Old House of Correction there are eleven who have neither had the smallpox nor the cowpox - six from Clophill, two from Stotfold, one from Sandy, one from Biggleswade and one from Little Woollaston in Northamptonshire. Six of these persons have been vaccinated during yesterday & today, and the others are to be vaccinated tomorrow, if the surgeon can procure sufficient vaccine matter.
