Monthly Accident reports Compiled by the Road Traffic Division of the Bedfordshire Police, these Report form a chronological record of accidents arranged into series based upon the pre 1974 local government boundaries if Boroughs, Rural and Urban District Councils.

The information is recorded in tabular form which give the following details left to right across the pages of each accident: - Date and time of accident - Location - Vehicles involved - Casulties; the age and gender of those injured or killed, and the seriousness of the injuries received - Description of accident Some Reports, particularly those for Luton Borough (Ref: Hi/RS/4/3/1) also have a supplementary report giving details of road accidents involving schoolchildren between the ages of 5 and 16. Each monthly report is usually accompanied by tables comparing the month's accident statistics with the same month of the previous year and the cumulatives statistics for that year compared to those of the previous year. Monthly Accidents Reports survive most fully for Luton Borough 1966-1974, and Dunstable Borough 1966-1971; fewer Reports survive for other areas; Bedford Borough 1970-1971, Rural Districts 1968-1971 and Urban Districts 1970-1971.
