  • Scope and Content
    (i) came before Thomas James Hooper, Steward of the Manor in Court, and in consideration of £12 paid to (i) by (ii) did surrender to the Lord of the Manor by the hands of the Steward: a) Piece and parcel of ground situate in Biggleswade near a lane now or formerly called Crab Lane with two cottages or tenements formerly in the occupation of William Newman and Richard Bird and now in the occupation of [ ] Dickens and [ ] Jackson. The said piece of land contains in length 40 feet, and breadth at the S. end, 32 feet, in breadth at the N. end and 20 feet 6". It is bounded on the E. by a fence formerly of Thomas Gale and now of [ ] on the W. by a fence formerly of Benjamin Woods and now of [ ] on the S. by property of Arthur W[ ] Stileman (formerly Rudd’s Bank), on the N. by a public House called the Anchor . Together with the footpath leading thereto. To which premises (i) was admitted tenant (with Robert Twelvetrees) on 30 Apr 1858 (see Z 590/23). (i) surrendered all hereditaments in (a) to (ii) her heirs and assigns for ever according to the custom of the said Manor. Signed and witnessed by W F A Fletcher, Deputy Steward. Receipt for £12 received by (i).
