Leighton Buzzard: Wilkes family monument. Summary of text translated from the Latin as follows: The righteous man endures in memory for ever. Ps.112. Here lies the body of Luke Wilkes esquire buried in lead in certain hope of resurrection, who served Charles I in the kingdoms of Great Britain, France and Ireland as yeoman of his removing wardrobe. He fulfilled that office faithfully for 30 years. He died in1673. His father Edward Wilkes, eminent man of this town built the alms houses here, which his son amply enriched.
