Title
Husborne Crawley: ‘In the south aisle of Husborne Crawley church’. Monument to Robert Slingsby with Latin inscription. Verse, followed by ‘here lies Robert Slingsby, gentleman, one of the coroners of the Lord King in the county of Bedford, and his wife Abija. He died 3 June 1634, aged 74. Obediently and dutifully inscribed by Hez Slingsby, second born son of Robert’. Carving of skull and bones at the top above inscription ‘Mors ossa subegit’ (‘Death overcomes the bones’).
