    Release Parties: (i) William Baker of Feckenham [Worcestershire], gentleman and Martha, his wife; William Beckett of Bedford, gentleman; Francis Brace of Astwood [Buckinghamshire], gentleman; Henry Lowen of Bedford, vintner; Thomas Phillipps of Stevington, gentleman; Edward Pilkington of Bedford, baker; (ii) Robert Bell of Bedford, gentleman Operative Part: - Henry Lowen paid £720 to William Baker and Martha, his wife; - an annuity of £20 per annum would be paid to Martha Baker [see below]; - (ii) paid 5/- each to (i) - William Baker and Martha, his wife and William Beckett, Francis Brace, Henry Lowen, Thomas Phillipps and Edward Pilkington by direction of William Baker and Martha, his wife released (a)-(d) to (ii) in trust [see below] Property: (a) White Swan Inn, Bedford, Saint Paul, formerly in the occupation of William Parker then Elizabeth Walker, now Henry Lowen; (b) Castle Hill or Bowling Green; (c) Castle Close, where Bedford Castle formerly stood adjoining (b) and containing four acres and lying near (a) in the occupation of Henry Lowen and lying between the River Great Ouse and Castle Lane with a piece of ground called the Bowling Green on the other part; (d) close of pasture called Naylor’s Close in Cardington in the occupation of Thomas Slade, formerly Edward and Thomas Naylor with a close of John Larkinson E and a close in the occupation of Widow Willimott W Habendum: - to the use of (ii); - (a)-(c) to the use of Henry Lowen; - (d) to the use of William Beckett, Francis Brace and Robert Bell in trust to indemnify Henry Lowen against any incumbrances of William Baker and to apply the rent of (d) and the £20 annuity to any use specified by Martha Baker; if William Baker survived Martha then William Beckett, Francis Brace and Robert Bell should allow him to receive the profits of (d) for his own use; after William Baker’s death William Beckett, Francis Brace and Robert Bell were to convey (d) to whomever Martha Baker had appointed in writing, in default of such then to her heirs; if Martha Baker survived William she could direct William Beckett, Francis Brace and Robert Bell to convey (d) Covenant by William Baker that he and his wife, William Beckett, Francis Brace, Henry Lowen, Thomas Phillipps and Edward Pilkington would levy a fine sur conizance de droit come ceo etc to (ii) with the intent that William Beckett, Francis Brace and Robert Bell should receive an annuity of £20 per annum during the life of Martha Baker arising out of (a)-(c) Witnesses: - Alexander Bolton; - William Houlker; - John West; - Symon Lewis [by mark]; - Humphry Calton; - George Beck
