- TitleOpening of Luton library. The Free Library, often known as the Carnegie Library, occupied a site at the junction of George Street and Williamson Street, immediately north-east of the Town Hall. The Library, was the gift of Mr. Andrew Carnegie who was present at the opening. Mr. Whitelaw Reid, the American Ambassador, opened the library on the 1st October 1910.
