Abstract of title: Ivel Commissioners to property at Tempsford. First recital: Ivel Navigation Act 1757, power given to any five of Commissioners to agree with owners of land in which canal was to be dug, without conveyance; possessory right thus given has grown into title. This system applied particularly to Old Line of navigation between Tempsford and Biggleswade mill, opened in 1758.
