- Scope and ContentGeorge Cocksedge, Police Inspector: transfered Cherry to Hitchin. Cherry asked if Mrs Gurney coudl swear to the fowls and Cocksedge confirmed her daughter could, so Cherry said he would tell the truth, and Cocksedge took this down as a statement. Cherry stated he and Newbery had left the White Horse in Pirton and gone to the hoe of Mrs Gurney, where they had climbed over the wall and taken 7 fowls. Upon this statement Newberry was arrested. His boots matched marks left in the ground at Gurney's house.
