- TitleLetter: J.H. Grubbe to Henry P. Costobadie, asking him, as trustee, to give William Hugh Gery notice to pay off mortgage on Bushmead estate, as he wishes to provide for his daughter. Mortgage covers only 1/3 of estate. Bedfordshire land so poor 'that if any alteration should take place in the Corn Laws materially affecting the price of grain ... then would the Bushmead estate and all like poor land be the first sacrifice to such changes and the mortgage of my daughter not worth one farthing - in no county is there already so much agricultural distress as in Bedfordshire.'
