- Date free textJune 1716
- Production dateFrom: 1716 To: 1716
- Scope and Content27; 28 Feb. 1713/ 4: rang first peal, & afterwards found John Hipwell, John Wheatly, & Mary Clark coming away from church. No service one Sunday in previous October; went to Souldrop; saw Bolton ride through. Constantly attends church, but has not heard notice of holy days, nor has there been service on saints' days nor litany Wednesday & Friday till recently. Bolton has not given notice of 30 Jan., 29 May or 5 Nov., nor instructed youth & ignorant persons in Communion etc., nor had children for catechism. Has seen Bolton dressing his horse & making hay in Felmersham meadow. Confirms Bolton's action at the Bodington sale. Mr. Tiffin [previous vicar, William Tiffin] read prayers twice each Sunday & preached while he could, but for last 5 years there had been only one service each Sunday. Bolton has 'observed' 30 Jan, 29 May, 5 Nov., and some holy days but not all, but there was no service. Believes him kind to poor & has not seen him in drink.
