  • Scope and Content
Remembers said Daniel and his wife (whose maiden name she has often heard was Temperance Bedford) from age of 3 or 4 to their respective deaths. Until marriage at about 20 was “in the constant habit of being at their House sometimes for months together” has lived in the same parish or the adjoining parish of Aspley Guise ever since has heard that their daughter Mary Constantia was born at Husborne Crawley in the same month and year as herself, viz: September 1777 remembers birth of their daughter Charlotte at Husborne Crawley in November 1782 these two daughters were the only children of Daniel Shipton that she ever knew. Has heard Mrs. Shipton speak of several children of the said Daniel Shipton and herself who were born at Wavendon and died in their infancy and were buried there. Remembers death of said Mary Constantia Shipton which took place when the deponent was 17 years old; was buried at Wavendon, deponent was present at funeral; was not married. Charlotte was only child to survive – deponent believes that if there were any other children she would have known it through her long knowledge of the family. Remembers death of Daniel Shipton 1805 and of his widow in the following year; both buried at Wavendon. Remembers marriage of said Charlotte to Robert Charles Orlebar at Husborne Crawley in 1807 and the birth of their first child Robert Shipton Orlebar, now living at Husborne Crawley, in the following year. Said Robert Charles Orlebar and Charlotte both died in 1837 and were buried at Husborne Crawley. Endorsed: Mr. Orlebar to Sir Henry Hugh Hoare, baronet.
