From LAC Kirby: "... I have been posted to a new unit which I find much better than the last one .... our workshops are wizard, much different from the old desert days.... The only good thing I have seen in this country is the eruption of Vesuvius, and I was quite close to it .... I received my first medal. Its the Africa Star & Rosette. I'm not getting paid for it, so I don't wear it..."
