At a meeting at the Chequer Inn at Clifton the following people : Nathaniel Deer, Thomas Cox, Richard Neal and James Ward, old and intelligent men unanimously agreed that seven young elms which were standing in the hedge now on the north side of Barbers Close was [sic] taken in by William Green tenant to George Brooks Esquire and which said trees belonged to Mr. Lord – they therefore directed that the hedge might be removed and the seven elms laid into the close of the said Mr. Lord- - - the value of the ground five shillings; that of the trees about ten shillings.
