  • Scope and Content
A quote from the Will “the yearly rent (for Lady MacCartney) charge of two thousand one hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain, English value, payable out of the Irish Estate, is to be paid at Lincolns Inn Hale, in the county of Middlesex by two equal half yearly payments; on the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the feast of Saint Michael the Archangel without any deduction or abatement whatsoever; on any account whatever; the first payment to be made on such of the said feast days as should happen after the death of the Testator”. Does not mind Mrs. Hume selling the books and plate during her lifetime. Says that many people suppose her to be rich but rather she is in debt and has had to borrow £1000 from Coutts. Not much furniture hers.
