Order in Chancery to the justices for Huntingdonshire, to examine Jackson's accounts and to lay down what toll is reasonable; meanwhile the toll is to be 15d a ton in accordance with the Earl of Manchester's last order. If they do not do this within a month, Jackson may take 16d a ton till Michaelmas. Recites that wrongs are alleged to the tradesmen of Huntingdon, Godmanchester, St Neots and Bedford, and the poor waterman upon the Ouse in Huntingdonshire, by engrossing the whole trade through the 6 sluices set up between St Ives and St Neots by Arnold Spencer and one Girton, by virtue of Letters Patent extended to one Gaison by James I for 21 years; 'who past the same to Spencer and Girton, which the said defendant purchased of the said Spencer surviving Girton.' Jackson has paid to Spencer for the patent and expended in repairs £1000 or thereabouts. The Earl of Manchester's order was 'not made upon examination of witnesses but upon information only.'
