    Grant of land for formation of a company. William Penn esquire, proprietor and governor of Pennsylvania. Recites that Lord Montague of Boughton Hare, Lord Viscount Colereine, Lord Vaughan, Honourable Robert Boyle esquire, Sir John Hotham baronet, Sir John Keat baronet, Sir Heile Hooke baronet, Sir Gobert Barrington, Sir Matthias Vincent, Sir Philip Skippon (?), Henry Ashurst, - Thompson of Scarborough, Robert Thomson, - Staughton, Joseph Dudley, Walter Harris, -- Skynner, - Trevors, Daniel Cox, John Blackwell, esquires, Daniel Cox doctor in physic, John Hooke, - Mildmay, Thomas Serjeant, esquires, Edward Rudge, William Ashurst, Peter Lygeat, John Mortimer, John Hasckshaw, - Rapier, Thomas Hunt, - Raphson, John Burroughs, Joseph Thompson, and Edmund Harrison citizens and merchants of London, and William Penn junior, gentleman have discovered:- “at their own great costs and charges . . . a great Lake abounding with fish called the New Meditteranean Sea or Lake and a great tract of land adjoining to the said Lake abounding with a certain Crook Backt Wilde Kine called Sibolas or Pesikious both supposed to be within the northerly bounds of Pennsylvania. . . . . and are desirous to settle a plantation or colony upon some part of the land near the said Lake. In the settling of which they must be at great expenses and undergo great hazards and the advantages that may arise thereby will not redound to themselves alone But be likewise a great benefit to me my heirs and assigns and all the inhabitants of the said province . . . .” Grants therefore to Lord Montague and the others: -- 5,000 acres in Pennsylvania, to be situated on or near the Delaware and Susquehanna rivers, whereof 500 acres shall front the rivers, to be chosen by Lord Montague, etc.; 95,000 acres situated on or near the said Great Lake. Grants to them also rights of mining, fishing, killing the “kine”, 6 markets; appoints them the Governors and Company of the New Meditteranean Sea, Pennsylvania, with rights; there is to be 1 governor, 1 deputy governor and 24 assistants; Lord Montague, first governor, Sir Mathew Vincent deputy governor, and first 24 of the others, the assistants; rules for assemblies given, etc. Witnesses: Philip Ford, J.
