  • Scope and Content
    His wife Margaret to be executrix and Guardian of his younger children during their minorities. Within 3 years of his death she is to sell in fee simple all his freehold and copyhold estate and to transfer all his leasehold estates. At the end of three years she is to sell all his personal estate (except household effects, plate etc. in the house wherein he shall dwell at the time of his death, which she may reserve for her own use subject to account to her children at her decease). In the meantime she shall pay all his debts and funeral expenses, retaining monies secured to her under her marriage settlement, and also £200 now bequeathed. After payment of certain annuities the residue to be equally divided among all his children : Richard Edmund, Edward Miles, Thomas Anderson, and Anna Maria Rudd. Richard and Edward to have an additional yearly allowance, to be taken into account when the younger children have their shares at 21, the share of any chld dying defore 21 to be divided equally among the survivors. To brothers George and John respectively: £10 and £5 for mourning and 3s. and 1s. weekly. Other sums to other relatives for mourning. His sons Richard and Edward to be executors and Guardians instead of his wife in case of her re-marriage or death. In case of the death of his wife and all his children all monies or estate undisposed of to go to his brother Richard Edmund, subject to payment of debts etc. and of annuities mentioned and also of £1000 each to Mary Elizabeth the wife and Mary Elizabeth the daughter of Richard, and £500 each to his nephew John Rudd and his brother John Rudd (or his children). The monies and estate secured to his wife together with the household goods to be equally divided between his surviving children at her death. Witnesses: Robert Brooks, John Winn, J. Henson.
