NOTE: In the 1870s William Hugh Wade-Gery let Bushmead Priory on a 21 year lease to a Scot, John Morrison, and his second wife, Christiana. John Morrison went to and from Bushmead to New Zealand. His wife and children remained at the Priory, and Christiana died there following the birth of a son, Christian Robertson. She was buried in Colmworth churchyard. During this time, an agent managed the estate for William Hugh Wade-Gery, who moved first to a house at Norman Cross, and then to Wales, where he rented the shooting over Plinlimmon mountain. His only son, Richard, went first to a prep school in Bangor, and then to Shrewsbury School. Before returning to Bushmead, William Hugh took a house in Willesden, and his son took over the management of the estate, moving into a farmhouse. He naturally came to know the Morrison family at the Priory, and eventually married Margaret Hogarth Morrison in 1894. [This is not deposited at the Record Office - for information only.)
