  • Scope and Content
Bushmead Priory, to Mrs. W. Wade Gery, at Revd. T. Brown, Leadenham, Grantham. I got to Newark about half past three - called at Dr. Chawners. Got an inside place [in the coach] to Eaton. Dined at Grantham, and got to Eaton about 12 at night, and walked up to Bushmead, and found the road dry and the night fine and pleasant. Reached home about quarter past one, and was let into the house by John. The dear boy [their son William Hugh, born 1832] had almost forgotten me, and looks well. Fond of his bread and milk which he has night and morning, a pudding once a day, and pap twice. My mother [Hester Wade-Gery] was delighted to see me home again. Hester [Dawson] unwell again. Camption has left and they have a poor nurse from Bedford that knows nothing. The child much the same as it was. John is leaving my mother's service, and report says the Cook is to be married to White of Bolnhurst. Take care of yourself. I hope your father [John Milnes] continues without pain - pray do not flatter yourself that he can ever get well. (This is not deposited at the Record Office - for information only.)
