- Scope and Content[to Miss Milnes, Beckingham] Warmest thanks for letter and expressions of esteem and kindness. Departure of your married sister [Catherine Raynes] to Spain. I was shocked to hear of the death of Mr. Thomas Gery. " I am glad you enjoyed yourselves at the Theatre, and also at the Ball at Newark; I do not approve of the Waltz it never ought to have been danced in England. There is an Assembly at the Swan tomorrow, I have my dress ready but am not well enough to attend. I think (God willing) of taking a Trip to Town in the Spring, and from thence to see Windsor Castle. The long lapse of time since I was in London, is astonishing, and from its alterations, I shall scarcely know the fine City again. We have a new Clergyman in our Parish, who appears to be much liked in his function - he has a fine voice, a good delivery in the Church, with great energy and self possession. He is a relation of the present Bishop of London, has a wife and two Children" (This is not deposited at the Record Office - for information only.)
