- Scope and ContentWelbourne Hall. Glad to hear of birth of another boy [ William Hugh Wade-Gery]. Have been here for the last six weeeks. Been to Bloxham [Bloxholm, Lincolnshire] saw Green House heated by hot water - cost £1,000 but Mrs Manners can have what she fancies with an income of £12,000 a year. Drove to Belton to see monuments to Lord Brownlow's wives by Canova and Westmacot[t]. Little John Northmore begging me to quit my letter. Papa [John Milnes], dear good man, has lent us his Pony Carriage. Benn to Caythorpe. Welbys. Mary Charlotte [Chawner] just returned from Stafford. Mrs Raynes has asked me to be godmother to her little boy. Invitation to dinner from the Browns but declined as I was the only one asked.
