- Scope and ContentIlfracombe. Though the Cockneys call the new Post Office arrangement a ""H-ill advised plan" [refers to Sir Rowland Hill, postal reformer], I am inclined to favor the scheme as it induced me to keep up a rather active correspondance than otherwise, thinking 4d too high a price for my epistles. My mother [Mary Grubbe] is afflicted with rheumatic gout. Dear Ellen [Grubbe] was here - very like Charlotte. I think her money may be anything but a blessing to her. How are the Newark elections. Hope you are free from the Chartists. Do you [? see] anything of any of the Costobadies ? (This is not deposited at the Record Office - for information only.)
