- TitleAnnual reports on Road Safety Activities in Bedfordshire (excluding the Boroughs of Luton and Dunstable) made by Superintendent E. S. Turton, County Road Safety Officer to the Chief Constable. Until 1965 the reports are issued by Bedfordshire Constabulary, thereafter by Bedfordshire County Council. Turton retired from the Police on 31 October 1966 and the following day was appointed by the County Council as full-time civilian Road Safety Officer. Each report contains detailed appendices including: numbers of people killed and injured on the roads annually back to 1947; road mileage for each local government area with numbers killed and injured; comparative accident statistics with previous year; classification of road casualties by mode of transport (e.g. pedestrian, motor driver) and comparative figures for previous six years; analysis of child casualties; monthly accident totals; analysis of peak times for accidents; causes of accidents; summary of vehicles, pedestrians and passengers involved in/caused accidents month by month.
