  • Scope and Content
Written at Draughton Lodge. ...I must write you a few lines to express my sympathy and hope that the dear children will soon be better. I have not been feeling well myself today; did not get up till between 8 and 9. I think I am suffering from cold and perhaps a little bilious. You will be pleased to hear my darling baby is all serene and I hope will be spared many of the evils flesh is heir to. I suppose you had no time to write more. I expect Miss Bell is still with you. She told me she was going to Hollowell on the expiration of her visit with you. I am going to take a part of my Household to an entertainment for the Benefit of British School at Rothwell this evening. How did you get on last Sunday? I seldom enjoy them at home so much as I did the one I was with you. I hope your minister will improve on acquaintance. Ours is a very worthy man I believe but somehow he has not won the people’s affections. I think perhaps the fault may rest somewhat on all sides. I hope Mr. Sanders continues better. Annie Wiggins is in Lincolnshire-- expect her home next week. Uncle Robert and perhaps Aunt will come down to dine tomorrow. Uncle does not like being out in the Dark (alone). We have had some various sorts of weather since I was with you. I hope we shall all have a good year. I must not write more. Love to your little ones, also Miss Bell and a large portion for your dear self-- Believe me Yours affectionately....
