- Scope and ContentWelbourn [to Miss H. Gery, Bushmead Priory]. Glad to have cousin's kind letter. My brother [Richard Welby] is visiting Priory and is I am sure very happy with you. Mr. and Mrs. C. Gery are not returned to Grantham. Mr. William Welby dined with us in his way from Lincoln, but not in spirits, having left Mrs. Northmore [Penelope nee Welby] but indifferent - she would be obliged to undergo a second operation in a few days. Her "disorder is I fear beyond the power of Medical assistance to eradicate". Wasn't at the Stuff Ball at Lincoln. However dress of ladies a grass green. Only a few minuets, but Country Dancers amounted to above 60 couple. Description of collation room. Have not yet received an answer to my letter from our antiquated Beau. Mr. Belasye has certainly shown his partiatilty to my cousin. We were in hopes before this to have received a letter from my sister (Mary) De Butts.
