- Scope and ContentCross-written ‘Orton Lodge, Tuesday Morning’. Written at the head of the first sheet: “Whosoever cometh unto me I will in nowise cast out” (Christ). ...As our conversation ceased rather abruptly yesterday I am writing these few lines to express the sincere pleasure I felt on hearing what I did from you yesterday afternoon, and to assure you of my confidence and sympathy-- anything you entrust with me dear will be kept as a sacred trust-- confidence is not to be lightly given, nor lightly received-- Especially on religious subjects-- I have in past years suffered so much thro’ the want of some friend to whim I might go for advice and instruction that I can most deeply enter into the feelings of anyone who feels the same. I shall anticipate my dear so many sweet Sabbath hours when we shall exchange thoughts and feelings, and talk together of a Saviour’s Love....‘ Then asks pardon for ‘hurriedly written note’; ‘sincere faithful love is felt and expressed and let all the rest pass....’
