Correspondence file relating to matters concerning the Lye Charity and trust, a Luton Methodist Circuit Benevolent Fund for the poor of the Luton Circuit. The governing instrument of the charity was a donation of £5,000 left in the will of Miss Louisa Lye and the trust was subsequently administered by the Trustees of the Luton Circuit, who appointed a circuit benevolent Board annually to carry out the responsibility of administering the poor. This file relates chiefly to the setting up of the charity and the registration thereof.
