    Luton Methodist Circuit (1933)
  • Admin/biog history
After unification of the Wesleyan, Primitive and United Methodists in 1932 the Chapel Street and Waller Street Wesleyan Circuits and the Luton II Park Town and Luton III Mount Tabor Primitive Methodist Circuits combined to form a united Luton Methodist Circuit. The five chapels which made up the Luton I (High Town) Primitive Circuit remained as a separate High Town Circuit until 1944. Initially the main Luton circuit was known as Luton 'A', then from 1944 just as Luton. In 1942 ten churches split off from the Luton Circuit to form a new Harpenden Circuit. Luton Industrial Mission was taken out of the Circuit and became a separate organisation in 1959. In 1965 the remaining churches were divided into Luton North and Luton South Circuits.
