'I was at plough on Saturday last (the 9th inst) in a field at Wyboston, about 12 oclock at noon, I hung my great coat on a hedge to dry, about one oclock I came home & found before I returned my great coat was taken away from the hedge where I had hung it. I went down to Eaton to inquire after it & there I saw Samuel Howell bargaining with George Rosamond for a Great coat. I said that coat is mine, Howell said it is not I bought it of a man of St Neots. I fetched the Constable of Eaton & gave my coat to him, he having taken possession of some other things.'
