    James Topham 'saith that on Saturday last my son John Topham was driving plough in a field belonging to me at Wyboston. I gave him his great coat to take with him when he returned to dinner he said he had lost it. This was about one oclock. About five oclock in the afternoon I saw the great coat in the possession of Mr Day the constable of Eaton.' Signed James Topham. Mr William Day 'saith on Saturday last the 9th inst about three oclock, I was fetched by Joseph Joyce to the White Horse at Eaton. I there saw Samuel Howell of Eynesbury sitting upon a bundle, I said get up I'll set what you have got in that bundle. I saw in it a slop frock & a small drab great coat which I took away till I could find the owners. About five oclock Mr James Topham came to my house & said that great coat was his sons. On Sunday morning James Crow of Dulo in the parish of Eaton Socon came to my house & said that slop frock which I had got (& which I showed him) was his & he could swear to it. On Saturday Joyce gave me his coat, into my possession.' Signed Wm Day.
