Deed Poll of Anthony Lane of Baldock, Hertfordshire, clerk. Reciting that Anthony Lane together with one William Lane of Bedford, practitioner in physic, by an indenture dated 5 Jan 1671/2 made between (1) William and Anthony Lane (2) John Spencer, Bedford gentleman, did covenant (in consideration of £50) to leavy a fine on two cottages in the parish of St Paul, Bedford, adjoining each other, one in the tenure of Stephen Perrin, the other of Richard Buckle, to the use of John Spencer for term of 500 years, with a provision making covenant of no effect if (2) was paid £51 by Anthony Lane. Reciting that John Spencer has contracted for the absolute purchase of the premises. Release and Quit Claim in consideration of £74 10s to John Spencer of all rights in premises.
